ARE You Going In Circles?

Have you ever seen one of those shows or one of those movies where the main character has NO IDEA how amazingly talented they are? You know it’s the show where that gift person keeps going in circles, and second-guessing themselves. Everyone else KNOWS how talented, and how gifted that person is, and a few of them at some pivotal point in the movie may even TELL them. Yet, that person is not sure if this is the right time or if they have the right stuff. I am sure you have seen shows and movies like this one over and over again. It’s like art imitating life.

The funniest thing about shows like that is many of you live them out every day. You put your ideas on the shelf because you not sure that people will support them. You don’t want to look foolish, or embarrassed by starting something else and not finishing. You may even wonder if that dream is realistic, at your age. You tell yourself that you start when you have more time, knowing in the back of your mind that you probably won’t.

The parts of our lives that scream for our attention are hard to ignore. The responsibilities of home and work are never ending, so if you don’t learn how to become like George Jetson, and find your Rosie, “To Stop This Crazy Thing!” you may never find the life you KNOW is possible. I mean have you ever thought about how many things were ALMOST created, and how many cures, and solutions are sitting in the “I wonder if”, stage?

I wanted to share something with you today that you may or may not know. Every great deed and every important contribution has come from someone who had to make choices and decisions. They had to face their own feelings of insecurity, and fear. Most wondered how in the world they would accomplish this great feat and what would happen if they failed. ALL of these feelings are normal, then and now. The questions are meant to be strength building, not dream killing. For the people who moved forward, those feelings became future food for doubt removal. For those though who allowed the fear and obstacles to be a reason why they never went any further there are only questions and regrets.

Today you are pregnant with possibility, and ready to deliver. There is no fear BIG enough to hold you back, only you can do that. You can do everything, or you can do nothing, but you will have to choose. As you look over your life today as I pray you do. There are a few questions for you to consider. If you knew how close you were to making a difference, to changing the world we live in and making it better, would you go for it? For a moment, allow yourself to say yes to your dreams, choose the short-term discomfort and long-term success. On any given day, you sit in this very place, where you can look fear in the face and keep on walking, or you can sit down follow the same course of action, and wake up to the same unwanted outcome. Today, I encourage you to shake things up, to believe that you can make a difference, and then make today the day you respond with a “yes”, and then start moving into action.
