Who Are You Following? (And, I’m Not Talking About On Twitter!)
Your experience in life, can be vastly different depending upon where you sit and what you do. It can be filled with unimaginable beauty or circled with defeat, depending on your attitude and the company you keep. Keep company with God.
There are places that will quickly show you the door, and ask you to leave if you don’t have on the proper attire. There are cities you may never see and people you may never meet, on your own. You have two choices in life to live by faith, or to live by sight both will give you two very different experiences. Living by sight will give you a level of predictability, but you won’t experience the awe and wonder of God, and you will never know what is possible.
When you decide to live by faith, you will never know what life will look like, some days you will wonder how in the world things are going to come together. On those days, all you will have is your trust and strength in Him, and your history with a God, who has never left you or forsake you. You may have hours, and even days on your knees in prayer. Some days you may feel like the answer is never going to come, and then it will.
Living by faith is never something that you can predict, you pray with the conviction that God can, and God will. Just like Daniel and the three Hebrew boys, taken from their families and all they knew. God gave them favor and took them into places that they never thought, and probably never hoped or dreamed to go. Daniel who was confronted by the king and threatened with death said this, after refusing to bow down and worship the golden statue.
Daniel 3:17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand.
Daniel’s faith was strong, and He stood, and his friends went into the furnace, but God got them out! For His glory! There are times though when God’s answers won’t seem to make any sense at all to you. They will seem crazy, unbelievable, difficult, and the complete opposite of what you asked, trust Him!
God does amazing things every day, and they require our faith, our belief, and our trust in Him. You can trust God and go where He leads, or you can lean on your own strength and miss all that you can experience with Him. The life of faith is not built on human certainties, and if it was what could you possibly learn about Him, and what He is capable of doing in you, on you, and through you. Follow God’s lead, even when you don’t know where He is going, and why He could be possibly be taking you there. There is an incredible story of faith, found in the pages of trusting and following Him that you can only read or experience if you are willing to surrender and follow Him where He leads you.
