A Devotional by Minister B. Michelle Horton
One of the many things I appreciate about the Lenten season is that it is a time of deep reflection. This morning the Holy Spirit prompted me to revisit the connection between Lent and Love. If we ascribe to the description of love found in 1st Corinthians 13, we can ascertain that Love and Lent are in indisputably e…ntwined.
What better example in scripture of the passionate, perfect and profound love that was demonstrated as our Lord took the long road to Calvary? Love is patient. Christ patiently grew in statue and wisdom and He remains patient with us. Love is kind. What manner of love is this that the Father would bestow upon us?” 1 John 3:1 What amazing kindness God showed by giving Himself over to the authorities to be tortured and tattered by the whips we should have taken. Love never fails. God’s plan of redemption has never once been inadequate or insufficient to accomplish the task of salvation for any and all who would dare to believe.
During this season of Lent, let us remember that it was, is and always will be God’s love that saturates every dry place, soothes every hurt and saves every believer’s soul. Celebrate Lent and celebrate Love today and always.
