What I Learned From A Catchy Phrase, And An Open Door
The other day I was watching the show, The View, and they had a funny segment about YouTube superstars. The episode featured two people, both previously unknown, whose YouTube fame catapulted them into a whole different dimension. I heard this statement before and you probably have to, but I didn’t know the story behind it. This named woman named Sweet Brown was interviewed after a fire in her neighborhood and somewhere in the conversation she dropped, “Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That”, and that was all it took. She went viral in less than three days.
One statement, a chance meeting, and the fact that she walked through the door when it opened literally changed not just her life, but the life of her whole family! WHAT! Today this woman has commercials, she has a Bar-B-Que sauce, I am waiting for the shirt (I know it’s coming). She has received national attention, been on national television, and with her personality (she was made for entertainment) this is probably just the beginning. She probably said that very statement every day and no one paid attention, including her. A group of words opened up a brand new door for Sweet Brown, and instead of pausing or second guessing herself, she allowed it to be the beginning of something great.
What talent, gift, or ability are you holding onto that could literally change your life overnight? What have you said, written, or created that is ready for the door to swing right open? Sweet Brown, did not wake up that morning thinking today my life is going to change, but once it happened she just went right on along with it, offers, opportunities, and all. You must be prepared, and ready, and you should operate your life expecting to wake up one day and have your whole life change for the better. So don’t be shy and don’t allow your fears and insecurities to close the door that God has swung wide open. In less than 6 months, this woman went from a woman talking about a fire, to appearing on national television with offers and opportunities from everywhere. When your 42 second opportunity comes around will you waste it, or will you enjoy it and see where it takes you? You may think Sweet Brown’s story is crazy. You may not be a fan of Sweet Brown, her media image may present a challenge for you, but the truth is she used what she had, and she walked through the door that opened for her. The question you need to answer yourself is will you? You have the gift, the talent and the chance to use it, walk boldly you never know what could happen if you use it! You will never know what is behind the door you refuse to walk through. If she can make a mint from a catchy phrase, and ride it all over the country, what could you do with all of that talent you have inside of you?
