My daughter is a talented writer, I tell her that all the time. She has been writing since her early teens, and she loves it.
That means our house is full of books, and she retreats to her room often…just to steal some time to hone her craft.
I want to support her love of writing, and help her create a home base for her work. I think everyone has a gift, and those gifts should be cultivated and shared with the world! So this year, she is getting a very special gift…
Last year, we got her a special journal and pen set, which she still has and uses daily, but I think it’s time I gave her something that will allow her to do even more. So, what are we getting her?
You guessed it, a blog with a domain.me address and a year of free hosting! Her very own space to write, explore, share her gifts and talents, and display her creative work. It also gives her a place where she can start to create her own brand and where she can show off her own sense of style.
She has been talking about blogging for the last few years, but I didn’t want to give her one until I knew she was ready. This year, she finished the November Nanowrimo 50,000 word writing challenge, so she earned it.
I picked domain.me address, because I knew she would have unlimited address choices. She’s young and creative, so I knew she would want to have a website address of her choice, not what is leftover! I can’t tell you how many times I was frustrated when I was developing a site, because a website domain was parked by someone who will probably never use it! I didn’t want her to have to go through that!
.
Until I researched the options, I had no idea how common .me domains had become, that familiar fb.me that always shows up in Twitter is Facebook’s .me domain address. Time has one as well, Ti.me, even cuter the movie Despicable Me, has one too guess what it is Despicable.me.
My daughter is an original, and her future is bright. I want to make sure she gets as far as her gifts, faith, hard work, and talents can take her. This site is just the beginning. It’s where she can start building and developing her brand. I’m excited about watching her grow and become great! So, stay tuned because I will probably be sharing her unveiling with all of you.
If you have a writer of any age, you want to encourage and help grow, this is a gift you want to look into, as well.
Shoot…You may even be interested in creating your own personal brand, or developing your own business website. Domain.me gives you tons more options, without the constraints that exist with the dot.com searches (where so many of the good names are already gone). Check out domain.me for yourself, they are available almost everywhere domain names can be purchased, you will certainly find them in places like GoDaddy, HostGator, and about 160 other accredited registration places.
You Really don’t need a special occasion for gifts like these, it’s always a great time to give a gift that celebrates someone and their work!

I was wondering where those Facebook.me domains came from. I’m have to look into getting one.
