Technology and all it’s changes can make you feel like your head is spinning. The real question most people have is how can I keep up, and what kinds of tools and resources are out there for me?

Well, I had a chance to see some exciting new things that are going on at Comcast, and I found more than a few things that you might be interested in.  

A new more advanced direction.  

What once was a cable company has become so much more.  Now there are so many options that go WAY beyond just cable, and if you are not informed you could really be missing out.  

Comcast Xfinity has tons of new options to explore.  

For instance, now they have security options that can really change the way things were and help us all out.

New in security… starting at $29.95 a month

Here are a few things that you probably didn’t know.  Comcast now offers security options that rival what we have seen in the movies.  For instance, wouldn’t it be great to lock or unlock your doors from work or upstairs.  How about knowing when your kids came in from handing out with their friends, or when they came home from school….

The security service also has water sensors, small appliance sensors, broken glass sensors, indoor and outdoor cameras for monitoring, just to name a few.  How many times have you gone back home because you realize you forgot to turn off the iron, or your hair curlers, imagine being able to control that from your desk at work.

Their new app gives you tons of options including time stamping so you know who is in your house and when they got there.  They also have video capabilities so you can check in on everything while you are away from home.  Of course, this is great if you have a break-in, but it is just as nice to be able to check up on fido, or to see if your kids made it in safely from school.  

Comcast’s new service makes it easier for you to save money too, which is usually music to everyone’s ears.  They offer a feature that allows you to control your thermostat.  It also helps you make your heating and air conditioning more efficient.  I know I remember times when I forgot to shutoff the heat before I left home and all I kept thinking about was how much money I was wasting while I sat at my desk at work, that never has to happen again with a service like this one.  The system also knows when you are wasting money and will make corrections to the way you run your system to make it more efficient.  

In addition to the security service, I was quite impressed with what Comcast X1 Platform gives you access to a wide range of wifi hotspots even when you are not at home, that is a great perk!  Wouldn’t it be great to save some money on your wireless and data service?  With over 3 million wifi hotspots today and growing… it is probably easier to save money than you think.  

They also have a feature that allows you to plug into their network even when you are traveling overseas.  You pay once, but get benefits in multiple places.  Now that is nice!  And that is only the beginning…..

Now on to entertainment…

 

Options, Options, and more Options

Now let’s talk about these awesome features…

You can create multiple playlists..imagine one for the morning and another for the evening.  Perfect for the kid who loves watching the same show over and over again.  Did I mention the awesome shuffle feature.

Ratings that you can trust. Comcast has partnered with an outside agency to give you ratings that are clear, and that give you clear details on what you can expect when you watch a show.

Never worry about that remote again.  Use your phone as the remote, and with the app you can even use voice commands to turn the channel….

Control, Control, Control….You can control not only when they watch, but what they watch, even when you are not in the room.  That app is awesome sauce!

Tons of options…there are of course, tons of movie options and you can even watch some shows before they air, and that movie that started 45 minutes ago, restart it from the beginning with the touch of a button.  

Record multiple shows, and watch them in any room. You can record upto 4 shows at once, and you can watch a 5th, and if that is not enough imagine watching your favorite show in any room in your home.  

Walking around this beautiful Design Home Philadelphia Home gave me an amazing view of what Comcast’s new service offers.  Even if you don’t start off with all of these options, there seems to be something here for everyone.
