It’s almost Valentine’s Day, one of those holidays when cards are not just nice they are expected. So, you need to find a card for that special someone to know that you are thinking of them.

When I went shopping for my cards this year I had a quick reality check, the starting point for those cards was $5.00 and they just went up from there. So, if I want to buy multiple cards, I’ve already spent $15-$20 and all I have is a card.

I didn’t want to spend that much of my budget on cards, so I went to my go to place for great cards at a great price.

Know Where To Go

You can find inexpensive cards in a number of places but the question you need to ask is how is the quality and how is the selection.

I have found that there are a number of regional wholesale clubs that offer cards at 50% off.

Hallmark and a number of the other brands sell cards at discounted rates, but there aren’t very many of them and as you can imagine they are rare and difficult to find.

The dollar stores also carry cards.  They range in price from $0.50 – $1.00.

Just know as you move closer to the holiday the pickings get pretty slim.

What Do You Really NEED for the occasion? #Quality

You may not find an elaborate card at the dollar store, but you can find a nice card to add to a gift without killing your budget.

When you are shopping for a card, you have to know what you are looking for, there are some occasions when you may want to go all out and spend more for a card than a couple dollars, but there are other times when that just isn’t necessary.

There are sometimes when the $0.50 or $1.00 card won’t do, so know when it matters and when it doesn’t.

How Important is Variety to you and the occasion?

There are times when variety matters, picking from 5-10 cards just won’t work.  Those are times when you definitely want to go someplace where you have a large number of cards to choose from instead of one of two.  If every word in the card needs to be meaningful or true, you are going to want to go somewhere that has a huge selection, so in this case the dollar store won’t be your best selection you want to go to a wholesale club.

Here are just a few tips you can follow if you want to cut your card budget in half.
