I don’t think there is a person alive who can say they haven’t missed at least one big golden opportunity. Who hasn’t wanted to kick themselves in the butt for missing out on a something they really wanted.
The time you didn’t ask for that promotion, the time you didn’t speak up for yourself, the time that you listened to that little voice inside your head that said they are not going to pick you, they already have someone in mind, only to hear someone ask you later, why didn’t you apply, you would have been perfect.
Let me be clear, I can speak to you about this today because in the past, I have been an expert in this category. I can’t even count on my fingers the number of times that I was afraid to ask, so I didn’t. The times I got a “no”, ONLY because I didn’t ask, only to find out later that the door was wide open. If you are anything like me, you know that you have walked away from one too many opportunities, and today I’m here to tell you, it is time for THIS non-sense to stop!
Today I want to share a critical message with you, one that will determine if you live an average life, or if you live the life you have always wanted. Whether you have an opportunity STARING you in the face right now, or whether you will walk into one today, I am here to encourage you NOT to allow another repeat performance, this time try something new!
The steps!
Step 1. – Take some risks!
Being afraid to take a chance is a problem. The door that is open to you right now is GOING to require some risk taking. The great new is 97.9% of that risk is made up of fear. You start thinking of all of the things that could go wrong, and all of the things that you are “sure are going to happen”, and the truth is they don’t! So be bold, and take the risk!
Step 2 – Diffuse your fears with action!
The best fear killer is action. Make a commitment to your self to stop thinking, and start acting. When you move, you will see how unfounded your fears are because you will start to see that the things you were afraid of, don’t have any merit. So get moving and don’t stop!
Step 3 – Get comfortable with “No”
Right behind that “no” is your “yes”, so get used to hearing it! That “No” is not as powerful as you are making it. I don’t know anyone who has gotten killed by a “no” so stop allowing the word “no” to hold you back. Go out of your way to hear “no” more often. The more no’s you get, the more you are asking, and the more opportunities you are exposing yourself too! Be persistent, today’s no, maybe tomorrows yes.
Make today the day that you finally decide to stop leaving golden opportunities on the table. Go through these steps and make yesterday the last day, that you are willing to go for the status quo, and then go out there and grab your golden opportunity by the hand!
