Tired of the clutter and the mess? Keep Reading
With busy lives and multiple responsibilities reducing stress is not just a want, it’s a NEED. Our schedules are full and it’s easy to get in the habit of accumulating without purging, and that is a formula for DISORGANIZATION and CLUTTER.
Here Comes Help..
When I’m stressed and things get chaotic in my life or my environment I have to learned to let something go.
There is an easy formula that I use to help me create some level of peace of mind and some level of organization during those crazy times of the year.
Step 1- You Don’t NEED Everything
When you get to a place when you have to much, you have to make a conscious choice to let something go. It may not be a comforting thought, but it’s true. If you have party invitations that are 3 years old or notices about events that have come and gone, or clothing that you are embarrassed to say you EVER wore it’s time for a real heart to heart about whether or not it’s really those things are REALLY necessary.
Step 2- Make Peace With Letting Go
When releasing things is hard, you may need help shifting the way you see things. It’s easier to let go of something if you remember that you are opening the door to something better and you have to make space. Letting go is so much easier when you can see the greater good. Can you donate the items you are not using or making them part of a personal fundraiser for your favorite charity, can you give them to a friend or associate who can use them. Sell them on e-bay for something that you really want or for Christmas shopping. Make this clean up job a win-win.
Find Places and Spaces For The Things You Want To Keep
I went to the Container Store and found all kinds of goodies. Baskets, bins, bowls, containers, and other great organizational tools. It’s exciting to see the options that are available and that alone could make this whole process a lot more fun. Being able to picture your nice neat room is so much more relaxing than thinking about piles of paper, clothing, and stuff. Visit the Container Store, look around at what is there and ask for help. You will be organized in no time!
Don’t Do It All At Once
Organizing is a life long journey. Whenever your life changes, your needs and environment has to change too. When you have babies, a husband, toddlers or teens your home and space doesn’t look like it did when you were single.
Make changes to adapt to your new lifestyle. If you approach this process like it is a one-time thing you have to finish today, you will wear yourself out and get frustrated. Don’t do it that to yourself.
Plan on making this a project you attack monthly or quarterly. Don’t get hung up on perfection, this is a marathon, not a sprint.
Stay Tuned….
We’ll be talking about this from now on so you can expect information about creating a space you love. This will include organizing tips, decorating ideas, and plenty of other helpful ideas to help you tackle organization and creating comfortable places. It will also be a place where you can find ideas that work on any budget. So, pick out the room you want to start in and check back often.
If you have suggestions, please share them we would love to hear more about what works for you.

I really enjoyed this post. Doing it all at once is something I really need to be mindful of. My projects get too big sometimes and I wind up making a bigger mess than I started with and then run out of steam.
