These words were my first introduction to Nichole Nordeman and her music, I had never heard her music I didn’t even know she was alive.  She told her story and sang her song Name at the Belong Conference and I was in love.  Her voice was heavenly but what really captured my attention were the words.  I am one of those people who really listen to what songs say and the words of this song caught me completely and pleasantly by surprise.  I quickly downloaded Name on iTunes and that day I became a fan.  I’ve played that song on many a long ride home, it’s kept me company and it’s a musical reminder of God’s love in spite of my shortfalls.

In the hustle and bustle of life, I hadn’t seen or heard much about Nichole, until I got an email asking me if I wanted to check out her new CD (uh, YEAH! #absolutely).  It came on Saturday and I popped it in my CD player today.

From the moment I pressed play and listened to Nichole Nordeman’s new CD, Every Mile Mattered I knew this was a special project.  The titles, the words, the music and her voice were captivating from the beginning note until the end.  Honestly, I enjoyed it so much I didn’t want to get out of my car until I listened to the whole CD, and then once it was done I already had a list of my favorite tracks ready to repeat.

There are 11 songs all unique and equally as beautiful.  Every Mile Mattered the title track was definitely one of my favorites.  Dear Me, a song she writes to herself became another immediate favorite.  No Longer, another track I absolutely loved.

The tracks are all different, yet letting go of past mistakes, moving forward and living life to the fullest is the theme that screams loudly.  The reminder weaved into almost every track that God loves us is another.  The songs are raw and easy to relate to, at times I felt like she had written the soundtrack to my life.  I felt so many of her words personally, I wondered if she had spied on me while she was writing the words.  I really love the whole CD, the real question is which songs I love more.  I listened to the CD in it’s entirety and loved the tracks more and more every time I heard them.

This CD has quickly become one of my favorite. The music is beautiful perfect for quiet time or a nice joy ride.  It’s calming and the words truly bring you to another place.
