Lord, Are You Sure?

Are You Sure, Lord

There are times when I have said this quiet prayer, God you couldn’t possibly be calling me to do this? Perhaps you’ve had the same feeling, as well. It may of been when the task seems scary, to large for you, something that you didn’t know how to do, or something that you didn’t have any interest in doing at all. It may be something that seems unreasonable or even something that can only be done with supernatural strength.

When I think about the Bible several people come to mind, like Gideon, and Joshua. God called them to do things that seemed not only impossible, but it also seemed crazy. I mean God what do you mean you are going to send me into battle with only 300 people, I have other people and they can fight just fine, and with more people at least I will have a chance to win. Come on God work with me!

Joshua must of thought, Moses is dead and you gave me this big responsibility. I don’t know if I can do this, and do you know what you are asking me to do? This is scary.

God knows what we need, but often times it is scary. We may have to work through the challenges and our feelings of fear and insecurities. God often will send us into places we were not anticipating and send us into situations that seem like they are custom made for someone other than ourselves.

You may be tempted to explain away why you are not the right person, and how this is not the right experience, but if God put it in front of you, it’s your time and this is the right place.

Resist your feelings to turn away and to question, and be willing to say yes Lord, and pray for the strength to go into the direction that God is calling you. The road that God takes us on is often not straight and narrow. There are often bends and crooked roads that form and shape us into the people who is calling us to be.

Remember when you were in school, you had to be taught. You studied and you learned and because of that you grew. Growth never happens in a vacuum, something takes us out of our comfort zone and makes us do something different. The life that God desires for you, will require you to grow into the model that He’s sees, not the one that you have begun to accept, because it’s comfortable.

Allow God to stretch you and be willing to go in the direction He has chosen for you, despite the fact that it seems to big, to hard, and scary! God will meet you there if you let Him!
