As the oldest child, I am always thinking about mom and keeping her safe.  She’s healthy and she’s vibrant, but when I am not around I want to know that she is thriving and doing well.  So, when I heard about a service being offered Xfinity Home I thought it was something she should explore, especially since she is still under contract and they are the only provider in her area.  We went out to Princeton to the new retail store to explore some of the new offerings to determine what she could do to make her home safer.

Here is what she found…new features and offerings

1. Find out who is at your door, then DECIDE what you want to do, even when your not home.
   • I love this and with all of the new services you can buy it’s great that you can use this service and expand it based on your needs.
   • Answering your door from work, without your visitor knowing.
   • Secure your packages and know what got delivered in real time.  Imagine:  your package just got delivered you can ask a neighbor to pick it up and hold it…I love it!
2. Find out who opened the door & when..get notified and get a picture
   1. This is such a hot button these days for multiple reasons.  I want my mom to know who is coming in and out of her house without any extra worry or concern so this is great for her.
      1. Get a picture of the person e-mailed to you and you will also get important information like when they came in and when they left.
      2. This feature has multiple applications and is customizable.
3. Flood warnings… this was great for mom because she is in an area that floods
   1. Mom lives in an area where floods happen way more often then they should so an alarm that lets her know when water has entered the building is priceless.
   2. This is also an awesome feature when you think about pipes that burst in the winter, sewage backing up, you name it.
4. Change that code..
   1. Having codes that you can give away without compromising the security of your system is awesome. This feature is great for houseguest, service providers and friends.
   2. It is also great in case of an emergency.
5. Make your house a little smarter and save.
   1. This service allows you to integrate your lights, your crockpot, your thermostat etc.
   2. Program your service to keep your home at certain temperature, turn on your lights at 5:30PM in the winter and 6:00PM in the spring and fall.
   3. Create options that make your life easier.

My mom left with a laundry list of options to explore to make her home safer.  She gets to decide how much she wants to add or change and when.  This gives her and I some great talking point and some options to consider to ensure her personal safety and our piece of mind.
