Things are heating up at the movies and the question you maybe asking yourself is should I go to the movies, and if I go, what should I see?
Just in case you were wondering two new movies came out this week..
The Edge of Tomorrow featuring Tom Cruise, which is a Sci-Fi thriller, and The Fault in Our Stars, a love and life story about two young people battling cancer, and facing all that life has thrown at them.
I didn’t see Edge of Tomorrow, but I did see The Fault in Our Stars, so here is what I thought about that…
The Fault In Our Stars
I won’t put any spoilers in here just in case you want to see it yourself, but I can share my experiences and opinions about the flick and then you can decide. It is based on a book by John Green, and the two main characters are Hazel Grace, and Gus Waters.
The movie dives in to some important, but real issues that people face when they are dealing with life when you a thrown a curve ball. At it’s core, the movie is about how you deal with the disappointments of life, and how important your attitude plays in the kind of life you live, whether it is long or short. I thought the movie was good. I left the movie with a lot to think about, which for me is always a great predictor of whether or not a movie was worth the money. You will love the characters and the story and it is definitely worth your time. Grade B. Here is my video review if you want to check it out.
Here are a few flicks that are still in the theatre that you might want to check out.
Maleficent
This was a movie that I was going to pass on. People kept talking about how dark it was and I didn’t want to bother with it. After hearing some of the reviews, I decided to check it out for myself, and to my pleasant surprise I really enjoyed the movie. You think you know the story, but the aim of a movie like this is to get you to think about the story behind the story, and that is exactly what it does. Angelina Jolie did a fabulous job with the portrayal of Maleficent. The characters, scenery, and costumes are exquisite. Please note, you probably don’t want to take a young child to see it, but it should be fine for a child 10 or over. I loved the themes in the movie and for that reason alone, I think it is a must see. It’s a movie that both tweens, teens and adults would appreciate and enjoy. put it on your list.
Here is my video review if you want to check it out..
Mom’s Night Out and God’s Not Dead
Here are two movies that I heard a lot about, Mom’s Night Out and God’s Not Dead.
I had Mom’s Night Out on my list.
A cast of characters, many of which we have seen before was not the real draw, the real pull of this movie was the feeling that someone was finally going to make a movie that real moms trying to balance family, and life could relate to, and this really was it. If you are a parent, you will probably see yourself in the movie at one time or another. Trying to balance life, home, and the responsibility of raising a family. The movie was funny, uplifting and definitely worth the price of admission B+. Go see it.
Lastly, God is not Dead.
This movie was about the question is God really alive. A college student tries to prove his point to his atheist professor, as part of a class project. You see him come with his argument and tell his story and along the way you experience people asking and answering many other questions. The story is one that deserves to be both told and heard. It was a must see as well. Catch it in theaters while you still can.
Well, until next time have fun at the movies… If you have seen these movies let us know what you think..
