It’s been a LONG year full of surprises and I want 2017 to be productive and rewarding so I have a plan and I am going to WORK IT.
This year, I am putting myself in the best possible position to thrive in 2017. Here are a couple of areas I’m focusing on, perhaps my list will help you put together your own list.
1. Increasing Productivity & Using My Time & Resources Wisely
My goal is not working hard, but working smarter. So, I’ve decided to try batching my work. One of the areas I am attacking first is identifying things that take more time than they should. I realized that when I work outside my home I often rely on wi-fi or unreliable internet speeds. Slow download and upload speeds mean I am sitting around waiting instead of getting work done.
When I found out it only took about 5 minutes to upload 20 of my high quality pictures at home it’s obvious this as at least one thing I needed to change. My home internet speeds VerizonFios speeds are consistent and dependable and they help me save precious time & energy. By uploading pictures and completing other high data at home, I save TONS of time and I also reduce stress. Win – Win.
2. Learning New Skills & Taking Advantage Of On-Line Training
I am going to learn one new skill a month. Learning new skills keeps your mind sharp and it’s also rewarding. The number of classes available online these days is crazy. All you need is good internet, a tablet or a computer and some time.
As long as your internet speed can support the videos, learning new things is easy. Over the next few days, I am making a list of 12 new things I want to learn about and I am tackling something new every month.
3. Working Out At Least Three Times A Week
When I work out I feel better and I look better, so I am making working out part of my self-care program this year.
If I can’t get to the gym I’ll work out with Fios On-Demand or videos I have at home, but I am committing to getting my butt moving. Working out increases energy, it also helps reduce stress and that makes everything just a little better.
4. Rewarding Myself For Taking Action
When you work hard, you need to reward yourself. I am setting weekly, monthly and quarterly goals and as I meet them, I am celebrating my successes.
Whether it’s renting my favorite movie on demand or going out for a nice lunch. I plan on rewarding myself for making the right choices and making those rewards consistent.
5. Creating Downtime To Relax And Enjoy Myself
I have daily, weekly and monthly goals, but everyday I am creating downtime to keep myself fresh. Rewarding myself for consistent action is important, but so is relaxing and enjoying today. Reducing stress is a major goal so setting aside time to relax is just as important as meeting my goals.
Some of my favorite programs will be returning in the next couple of weeks and they provide some great opportunities to relax and unwind. I may end up using my DVR to catch my favorite shows, but they are certainly part of my relaxation plan. Whether I catch my shows live or at my leisure they provide a real life opportunity for me to unwind from a long day, and that is an important part of my productivity plan.
This is the plan I am using to get myself on track to have a productive year, share some of your tips below.
