The little black dress is a staple in every woman’s closet, but there is nothing as satisfying as looking great in it. If your muffin top has you depressed and you are thinking about going down the pharmacy aisle looking for some help; I have another option that will be both fun and rewarding.
Looking good in that black dress isn’t as hard as you think, here a few easy tips to get you started.
Find A Workout That You Can Enjoy
Explore all the options. New workout routines, classes, & trainings come out all of the time that is good news for two reasons. That means you never have to settle for a boring old workout and it also means that you can change things up often. I’ve heard about some great workouts and I have even done a few: the Kangaroo Workout, Hot Yoga, Barre workout these are just a few. You owe it to yourself to find something that you will enjoy doing a few times a week.
Dropping Pounds Starts At Your Plate
For years, I thought that as long as I worked out it didn’t matter what I ate. I figured if I work out for an hour I burned enough calories to keep my potato chips, cake, and burger habit in check. I found out pretty quickly that wasn’t true. What you eat is just as important as your workout, a bad diet can kill a successful workout plan virtually overnight. Here is some good news, I never realized that there were hundreds if not thousands of delicious foods I had never heard of before or tried. It’s been fun and rewarding discovering and falling in love with new foods.
Don’t Over Do It
I know you want to look great in that black dress, but f you haven’t been active in a while, consider giving yourself a chance to ramp back up. I can’t tell you how many people I know who have decided they should go hard or go home, only to end up in the doctors office or even worse the hospital. The picture above is a picture of my ankles after I decided to do the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk without doing the long distance training walks… can you say OUCH!!
There is nothing worse than getting motivated enough to workout only to injure yourself before you begin. Start out slow and focus on being consistent, that is more important than conquering the world in a day.
Have A Plan And Work It Until You Reach Your Goal
Slow and steady will always win the workout race, so plan for the long haul. Think of mixing things up, if you are a runner think about adding yoga to increase your flexibility. If you are always doing cardio, add some weight lifting to your plan. This will also increase your metabolism. Variety makes working out more fun, it gives you something to look forward to, and it makes you more well rounded.
